I don’t remember how I first came across Rik Catlow, an artist now based in Charlotte, NC, but I’m a fan. I particularly like his pieces done on smashed cans — a great example of making something with value and meaning out of what is, traditionally, trash. I own one of these pieces, which I bought (from him) on eBay. Nowadays I keep up with his work through Flickr; he posts new pictures of pieces (and, in one instance, of a T-shirt he did for Burton snowboards, all the time.
